  • Lapland is a captivating region in the northern parts of Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Russia, famed for its subarctic wilderness, the Northern Lights, and as the home of the indigenous Sami people.

    Rovaniemi, the Capital of Finnish Lapland, is celebrated as the "official" home of Santa Claus, drawing families year-round. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and husky sledding, while nature lovers can explore extensive forests and encounter wildlife like elk and bears.

  • The most common and efficient way to reach Lapland is by flying. There are several airports in Lapland, such as Rovaniemi Airport, Kittilä Airport, and Ivalo Airport. These airports are well-connected with regular flights from the capital, Helsinki. Airports also receive direct flights from various European cities, especially during the high tourist season in winter.

    From Helsinki, it’s a long drive north to Lapland, typically taking around 12-14 hours, so it might be practical to plan stops along the way.

    The Finnish railway network VR operates trains from Helsinki to Rovaniemi and other destinations in Lapland. The overnight sleeper trains are a popular choice, offering a comfortable way to travel.

During the winter, you can witness the stunning Northern Lights, take exhilarating dog sled rides, or hit the trails on a snowmobile. The area's ski resorts cater to both beginners and experienced skiers alike.     Months from November to April typically offers the best snow conditions.

    To experience the midnight sun, plan your visit around June to July.
